Government Appreciates Humanitarian Forum Indonesia’s Collaboration in Disaster Response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra

The Government, through the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK), has expressed its appreciation for the contributions and collaboration of the Humanitarian Forum Indonesia (HFI) members in responding to floods and landslides in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to the latest reports, the humanitarian response conducted by HFI members has reached 632,822 beneficiaries across 58 affected locations, with total aid distributed reaching approximately IDR 155 billion, involving 2,256 personnel across various service sectors. This support includes fulfilling basic needs, healthcare services, logistics distribution, psychosocial support, and early recovery services for the affected communities.

The largest distribution of beneficiaries was recorded in the province of Aceh, followed by North Sumatra and West Sumatra, adjusted to the level of impact and specific needs in each region.

In terms of aid value, the largest contributions came from several HFI member organizations: BAZNAS with approximately IDR 34.7 billion, Human Initiative with IDR 32.9 billion, Rumah Zakat with IDR 20.9 billion, Wahana Visi Indonesia with approximately IDR 20 billion, and Caritas Indonesia with approximately IDR 9 billion. Additionally, significant support was provided by the Yakkum Emergency Unit (YEU), DT Peduli, Dompet Dhuafa, MDMC, LPBI NU, AMCF, Nurul Hayat, Rebana Indonesia, YKMI, HfHI, ADRA Indonesia, YCWS, World Harvest, and the DRR Bureau of PGI with substantial aid values. This collective contribution reflects the strong solidarity and capacity of the national humanitarian organization network.

The Assistant Deputy for Disaster Management at Kemenko PMK, Merry Efriana, stated that multi-stakeholder collaboration is a strategic element in strengthening the national disaster management system. “The government appreciates the active role and tangible contributions of the Humanitarian Forum Indonesia and all its members. Synergy between the government and humanitarian organizations is a crucial factor in ensuring that the response is fast, coordinated, and well-targeted. Moving forward, the strengthening of data integration, inter-cluster interoperability, and continuity between emergency response phases and rehabilitation and reconstruction will remain a shared focus,” said Merry Efriana.

Furthermore, Kemenko PMK reaffirmed its commitment to continue orchestrating cross-ministry/agency policies and encouraging harmonization with civil society initiatives to avoid the duplication of aid and ensure the effectiveness of interventions.

The Executive Director of Humanitarian Forum Indonesia, Widowati, stated that the response carried out is a manifestation of the humanitarian network’s commitment to upholding humanitarian principles. “This response is the result of the collective work of HFI members based on the principles of humanity, impartiality, and collaboration. We ensure that aid reaches the most vulnerable groups and is implemented in close coordination with the government, both at the central and regional levels, so that handling efforts run in harmony and reinforce one another,” said Widowati.

The government hopes that this established collaboration can continue to be strengthened as a model of multi-stakeholder synergy in building community resilience against increasingly complex disaster risks.
