Pelatihan untuk Pelatih Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat

HFI, supported by United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) Indonesia, conducted the fourth activity of Humanitarian Relief Fund: Training of Trainers of Healthy and Clean Behavior for Health Cadres and Educators. This training was conducted on Wednesday-Thursday, 27-28 June 2012 at North Thousand Islands Sub-district office. For 1 participants of health cadres and educators from Kelapa Island and Harapan Island were attending this training.

This event was officially opened by Atok Bahroni, head of North Thousand Islands sub-district. And then all participants were refreshed about the concept of clean and healthy behavior, including 10 indicators in household and 7 indicators in school. This was discussed over by Public Health Center of sub-district. Before training, all participants took pre-test.

The first day of this training was more about healthy and clean behavior (PHBS). The topics delivered in this training are the concept of PHBS, PHBS in disaster, healthy latrine, and integration of PHBS in school and community. Resource persons are representatives from sub-district Public Health Center, Indonesian Red Cross in Thousand Islands, Catholic Relief Services, and Talenta Asia Foundation.

Meanwhile, the second day of this training was more about communication. As a trainer, health cadre and educator are expected to have a depth understanding about how to use the right communication technique to deliver PHBS concept to their own community. The topics delivered in this training are target analysis (human characteristic), facilitation technique, communication media and public speaking. Resource person is representative from Talenta Asia Foundation.

After lunch, all participants were divided into 7 (seven) groups and asked to do role play according to the requested theme/topic with different targets. After that, participants made follow-up plans for short term and long term. They were also divided into health cadres per RT (neighborhood), and school teachers, thus can get varies follow-up plans. After that, participants took post-test.

This training was enclosed by sub-district Public Health Center with a promise that the results from this training will be followed up with related parties.
